Release Notes for Data Sprint 22.03

The following list of new features, updates and bug fixes are included in the latest Sprint 22.03 release to FDW/FDE.

New Features

• New Import Dependence dashboard
  Within the FDW, there is a new dashboard that allows users to view global import dependence for selected products from selected countries. This dashboard uses Human Development Index data and country export data from UN ComTrade, both of which are new data sources for the FDW.

• This new feature includes the following Jira issues:

  • Load key commodity trade data from ComTrade (DATA-1397)

  • Enable UN ComTrade data pipeline (DATA-1399)

  • Build data ingestion pipeline for Human Development Index data (DATA-1400)

  • Update the ComTrade data upload to include all countries (DATA-1438)

  • Create USAID Django auth group to share ComTrade data (DATA-1440)

  • Plotly Dash dashboard for ComTrade/HDI data (DATA-1451)

  • Add permission to EWT users to access ComTrade and the UN Human Development Index (DATA-1452)

  • Fix units for import dependency dashboard (DATA-1465)

• New dashboard for news articles (DATA-1459)
  Within the FDW there is a new dashboard that allows users to access news articles from pre-defined news sources. The dashboard includes links to the original articles and their full English text.

Updates

• Implementation of IPC V3.1 (DATA-1348)
  IPC version 3.1 can now be displayed on FDW generated maps.

• Change to data ingestion process for web services (DATA-1402)
  Previously, when fetching data from web services, if there were unmatched metadata for any data series being pulled from a web service, all imports from that web service were suspended until it was resolved. This has been changed so that when there is a failure in one document due to unmatched metadata, other documents from that web service can still successfully pull data.

Bug Fixes

• Wagtail visualizations - Parameters are not always updated correctly when different chart type is selected (DATA-1330) When switching from one chart type to the other when creating/editing a wagtail visualization, the parameters were not always reset correctly. This issue has been fixed.

• Exporting Pop Estimates via Spatial Domain not building correct URL -- Includes an extra 'fields=simple' (DATA-1396) In the Spatial Domain, when using the Option tab to add population estimate, data was showing in the Table tab correctly, but the export did not include any population estimate data. This issue has been fixed.

• Uploading files of CSV format through the offline data upload functionality is not working (DATA-1424) Files of .csv format are now uploading successfully to the FDW through the offline data upload.

• Fix duplicate geographic unit param (DATA-1429) In the Other domain of the FDE, there was an error when a user selected the market filter in the exchange rate sub type. This issue has been fixed.

• Sudan Farmers Website Pipeline failure extracting period_date (DATA-1437) There was an error when ingesting data into the FDW from the Sudan Farmers website. This issue has been fixed.

• Adding or editing classified products alias results in 500 Internal Server Error (DATA-1454) Trying to add or edit a classified product alias in the FDW was resulting in an error. This issue has been fixed.

• Extracting Ecuador time series data results in 500 error message (DATA-1460) Extracting data for Ecuador in a time series format resulted in an error. This issue has been fixed.
