October 2023: Customize and Share with Precision

In the latest release to the FEWS NET Data Explorer (FDE), we’ve continued to make accessing and customizing data more efficient. Deep links have been enabled for FDE, opening up new possibilities for sharing information. We’ve also refined the conversion options that appear in the Customize sidebar, and made improvements to data extracts for the Trade and Crop domains.

Introducing Deep Links

We’re adding deep links to FDE that will allow direct pathways to specific data. You can now choose filters and see your selections dynamically reflected in the web page URL. The deep link can then be shared with other FDE users. Just keep in mind that a user’s ability to access a domain or data series through a shared link will be contingent on their permissions.

Refined Customize Conversion Options

The Customize sidebar now displays only the common unit conversions available for the selected data series. Options to convert the currency, weight, volume or unit will populate based on the common units of the data series you’ve selected.

Updates to Data Extracts

The latest release includes the following changes to data extracts in FDE:

• The columns included in the Trade domain extracts were updated using the parameter fields=fde .

• The Time Series format for Crop domain extracts was updated to align with the format used to upload data to the FEWS NET Data Warehouse.
