The following list of new features, updates and bug fixes are included in the latest Sprint 23.08 release to the FEWS NET Data Platform.
New Features
FDE User Profile Page (DATA-2187)
The new user profile page allows users to access information about their account details and settings, including the ability to reset their preferred column order.
Sign up screens for FDE (DATA-2362)
A new sign up flow allows users to create their own username and password. Users receive an email confirmation of their request, and an email to confirm that their account is ready.
Trade Partner Dependency Explorer (DATA-2668)
The new Trade Partner Dependency Explorer dashboard in FDW can be used to view products imported by Haiti and the Dominican Republic, as well as which countries export products to these two countries.
Updates
FDE Updates
Improvements to the FEWS NET Data Explorer were completed through the following tickets:
New filters for From Currency, To Currency, and Indicator are available for the Exchange Rate domain (DATA-2546)
Users will see a new loading indicator on the data series tables when series are loading in response to user search criteria. A new updating indicator confirms when the data facts table and visualizations are updating in response to user selections or customizations. (DATA-2718)
Users can request to reset their password and change their password within FDE (DATA-2853)
Data usage policy and policy notes columns and UI elements are added to IPC domains (DATA-2931)
Users are able to export data from Crop domain using industry-standard time series format (DATA-2938)
A metadata tab has been added to the Crop domain (DATA-2939)
Adjusted the columns included in extracts from the Trade domain (DATA-2946)
Investigate making the FDW homepage `popular links` section dynamically populate per user (DATA-2146)
The Popular Actions section of the FDW homepage now dynamically populates with the user’s most viewed admin pages.
Data Ingestion Updates
A pipeline automates the ingestion of conflict data from ACLED into FDW (DATA-2807)
Re-enabled the Comtrade pipeline to pull new data while accommodating the significant changes included in Comtrade’s new bulk API download (DATA-2948)
Created a new pipeline to ingest data from the Kobo market price form for Chad. (DATA-2945)
LandScan 2022 data has been added to FDW and can be used to calculate the population for all countries (DATA-2917)
FDW Dashboard Updates
Trade Flow data layers were added to the Conflict Multilayer Map (DATA-2944)
UX/UI improvements were made to the Conflict Multilayer Map, including language, object placement, and icons (DATA-2954)
The Crop Production Dashboard can now present data by product or by country (DATA-2953)
Fix Geographic Unit metadata endpoint to return a dictionary (DATA-2428)
Adjusted the metadata API end point for geographic unit in FDW to return a formatted dictionary instead of a string.
Automatic creation of CKAN nodes for new Geographic Unit Set versions (DATA-2925)
New Geographic Unit Set Versions uploaded to FDW automatically create a corresponding CKAN node containing resources for the shapefile as well as the GeoJSON and KML extracts.
Bug Fixes
FDE Bugs
Bug fixes for the FEWS NET Data Explorer were completed through the following tickets:
Improvements to the Saved Datasets workflows (DATA-2909)
Improved rendering of the logos for visualization PNG downloads (DATA-2968)
Adjusted the Crop domain’s geographic filter to behave like other FDE multiselect filters (DATA-2918)
Corrected the filter drawer in the Crop domain to allow the deselection of one filter (DATA-2919)
Trying to create a source document with the same name an domain type results in 500 error (DATA-2915)
Added a ValidationError when creating a data source document in FDW that confirms when a data source document with the same source organization, source document, and document type already exists.
Fix DataSet Owner Field (DATA-2967)
Fixed an issue on the Add data set screen in FDW where the Owner dropdown did not populate if the user does not belong to a field office group and is a member of the National Technical Managers & Regional Market Specialist groups. Now, the current user can be selected as the owner.
Missing Validation Task in Kobo Price and Exchange Rate Pipelines (DATA-2996)
Added validation error reporting for the Kobo price and exchange rate data ingestion pipelines in FDW.
