The following list of new features, updates and bug fixes are included in the latest Sprint 22.06 release to FDW/FDE.

New Features

New features in the News Articles Dashboard

• Users can now filter articles by source country, tags, and publication date. Tags and source country are both assigned to a news source, rather than individual articles, by adding or editing a source in the FDW under Metadata management > News articles > Sources. See the help text for additional details on using the filters and adding countries and tags to sources.

New email alert feature in FDW

• FDW users with appropriate permissions can now set up automatic email alerts based on pre-defined criteria. When a new news article is downloaded matching those criteria, an email is sent to the email address(es) specified in the alert. [MAY NEED MORE DETAILS AND SCREENSHOT]

• This feature includes the following Jira issues:

  • Add News URLs to the main FDW URL patterns (DATA-1581)

  • Create alerts or news digests for articles that match certain criteria (DATA-1592)

  • Enable view set country and tag filters, and unit tests. (DATA-1603)

Updates

Upload Revised Zimbabwe FSC Shapefiles (DATA-1566)

• Revised Zimbabwe 2013 and 2021 shape files have been uploaded to FDW as follows:

  • Country and regional shape files on the website (e.g., https://fdw.fews.net/api/ipcpackage/?country_code=ZW&collection_date=2022-04-01, https://fdw.fews.net/api/ipcpackage/?country_group=903&collection_date=2022-04-01)

  • The shape files attached to the 2013 and 2021 ZW FSC geographic unit set versions in the FDW (e.g., https://fdw.fews.net/en/admin/spatial/geographicunitsetversion/193/change/?_changelist_filters=geographicunitset__country__iso3166a2__exact%3DZW, https://fdw.fews.net/en/admin/spatial/geographicunitsetversion/3410/change/?_changelist_filters=geographicunitset__country__iso3166a2__exact%3DZW)

Improved search functionality in Data Platform (DATA-1568)

• Users now have greater control over their searches. New functionality includes:

  • Search for an exact phrase by using single or double quotation marks (e.g., if you search for vegetable oil, you will get all results that have either of those words but searching "vegetable oil" or ‘vegetable oil’ will yield only results that include that exact phrase).

  • Exclude terms by using a minus (-) symbol (e.g. searching 'vegetable oil' -'palm oil' will return all results about vegetable oil unless they include a reference to palm oil).

  • Expand your search by using or (e.g. searching “sunflower oil” “palm oil” will surface results containing both phrases, but searching "sunflower oil” or “palm oil" provides you with results that contain either phrase).

Change the status of aggregated records(datapoints) from calculated to aggregated. (DATA-1575)

• The status of all aggregated datapoints has been changed from calculated to aggregated. This ensures that aggregated records are easily differentiated from calculated domain records.

Enable Helptext to be accessible to public users without a FDW Login ID (DATA-1583)

• FDE and FDW helptext is now available without a login required. This allows users accessing publicly available dashboards (e.g., News Aggregator and Import Dependence) to also access relevant helptext.

Color the countries on the import dependency dashboard (DATA-1589)

• Countries on the scatter plot are divided by color into three categories: FEWS NET Presence, FEWS NET Remote, and Other countries.

Update South Sudan Data in FDW (DATA-1610)

• This update ensures that a user can upload IPC data with a phase descriptions instead of the phase values so that the system should set the values along with the phase descriptions.

FTFCT Ukraine Resource Gathering - Sites and keywords to add (DATA-1639)

• Additional news sources related to the war in Ukraine were added to the News Aggregator dashboard.

Add Import functionality for Price Ratios (DATA-1642)

• FDW users with the appropriate permissions are now able to bulk upload price ratios. This functionality can be accessed using the path below:

  • Data Analysis > Calculated Data Sets > Relative Prices > Import relative prices ; i.e. (https://fdw.fews.net/en/admin/price/priceratio/import/)

Bug Fixes

Filtering either by Geographic or Market Filters of the exchange rate data of the country Haiti results in all of the exchange rate data of all the countries (DATA-1390)

• Filtering either by Geographic or Market Filters of the exchange rate data for Haiti (e.g., https://fdw.fews.net/api/exchangeratevaluefacts/?format=html&subtype=ExchangeRateValue&country_code=HT&fields=simple) returned exchange rate data for all FDW countries. This issue has been fixed and now returns correct exchange rate data for Haiti.

Spatial Export Bug Fix (DATA-1562)

• In the spatial domain, population and demography estimates were not being shown in the data extract when shapefile attributes were included. This issue has been fixed.

Link to data disclaimer broken (DATA-1585)

• The link to the data disclaimer in the footer of the FDE was broken. This link has been fixed.

Updating the Description text field of the Data usage policy results in 500 Internal Error (DATA-1593)

• Trying to edit the Description Field of a Data usage policy was resulting in a 500 Internal Error. This issue has been fixed.
