The data within the warehousing system and those shown in the FEWS NET Data Explorer are structured using flexible metadata settings that help gather the data consistently in time and space. Where possible, we use the following standardization guidelines to define metadata:

  • Countries: ISO 3166

  • Currencies: ISO 4127

  • Products: UN CPC v2

All data viewable within the FEWS NET Data Explorer contain the following standard metadata:

  • Data Source

  • Indicator

  • Geographic Unit

Metadata can also be unique to its domain. For example, a data series in the Price domain contains the following unique metadata:

  • Product name

  • Unit of measure

  • Price type (retail or wholesale)

  • Currency

  • Product source (local or imported)

  • No labels
