Crop Data
This is the complete, and most recent Benin ag stat database, as of this day. It should fully replace anything already in the FDW. It has 66,248 rows, covering the period between 1970 and end-2021. The spreadsheet has 4 principal tabs: Data, Admin, Season, Crop.
I have removed all accents from reporting unit names and provided season definitions.
The season dates here are strongly aligned in a south to north direction. The season begins in the south and moves up, before returning south at the end of the rainy season(s).
The season dates given here should be very similar in Togo and Ghana and even major parts of Nigeria, except for local features (hills, bodies of water, settlement patterns, etc.).
The MinAg zones shown here are defined by seasonal weather, soils and by what is normally grown in those zones by farmers.
September 2023, found that the Benin OpenData was an exact match for the Ministry of Ag ag stat documents we have retained when there were duplicates values from these. September 2023, found that the FEWS Agro-Maps data were frequently off-set by one year.
