With the latest release to the FEWS NET Data Explorer (FDE), you can customize the order of table columns to give more visibility to the information you need. You can also manage these preferences through the new user profile page. Plus, we’ve added you’ll notice a load of new features that make back-end information from our database visible via the front-end user interface in order to improve transparency and context. This includes new loading and updating indicators for tables and visualizations , and a new login screen.
Customizable Tables
You can now change the order of the columns in a data series or data facts table, as well as in the data points table. Click the arrows in the header row to move the column to the left or right. Your changes will be saved automatically.

You can reset the column order to the default view at any time through the new user profile page:
Click the profile icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
Select Manage your preferences.
Under Account Settings, click the X next to the table settings you’d like to restore to default. You can also choose All.
Click Save.

New indicators have been added that show you plus some new filters and metadata. Our latest how-to video provides a walkthrough of all the features you can access on the FDE home page.

We’ve added new indicators to instantly show when tables and visualizations are updating in response to your selected filters and data you’ve selected.
The new Loading indicator appears at the top of data series and data facts tables.

New Login Screen and Sign Up Process
You’ll notice a new simplified login screen and sign up form.
New users can now easily create their own username and password. An email confirmation will be sent once the new account is created and ready to use.

This change not only indicates that the data is still loading or updating, but also allows you to continue to view and work within the FDE while the system works in the background.

You can now filter by “From” and “To” Currencies in the Exchange Rate Domain.
